1. Avoid wearing too much

Makeup is meant to enhance features, not hide them. Wearing too much makeup will make you look cakey and completely different. Unless that’s your goal, here are some things to keep in mind when applying makeup:

A. Eyeliner: dark, thick eyeliner will make you look overdone. Though it may be perfect for Saturday night, it does not look natural and can make you look older.

B. Mascara: First, you want to curl your lashes using an eyelash curler.  Curling your lashes will help to lift your lashes, making your eyes appear open and bright.  Avoid applying too much mascara by wiping excess product on the top of the tub.  You can use multiple coats. Wait for one to two minutes between each coat; this will minimize clumping.

C. Foundation: First, choose a foundation that matches your skin tone. A little goes a long way, so start applying lightly and add more as desired. The goal of a foundation is to create a smooth, even tone. Also, select a suitable brush for your foundation; some brushes work best with a liquid foundation, as opposed to pressed powder.

D. Powder: The same holds true for powder – not too much. Powder sets the foundation giving the skin a polished appearance.  The key to using powder is blending.  Use a large, loose, bristled brush to blend the product effortlessly.

2. Lips

For a natural look, it is best to stick with neutral colors. Sometimes a clear gloss is perfect for keeping it natural but adding that little bit of spunk. You can even just throw on some tinted lip gloss or balm!

3. Appropriate makeup

Wear makeup that is appropriate for the occasion. If you are going to the beach, you should not wear the same makeup as you would if you were going dancing. Your day look should be lighter than your evening look.
